Obituary for Rodney Alexander Sr.

Rodney Alexander, Sr. was born in Highland Park, Michigan to the union of Epsie and Robert Lee Alexander, Sr., both of whom preceded him in death.

Rodney was educated in the Detroit Public Schools system. He also served in the Armed Forces as a member of the U. S. Navy. Later in his life, Rodney used his knowledge of the City of Detroit to provide transportation services to Detroit residents. He also attended Wayne County Community College, where he studied Computer Information Systems as a profession and hobby.

Rodney, together with the loves of his life, produced four loving children – Nicole, Rodney II, Brunisha, and Roderick. He was a proud, loving dad who cherished his time with his children, grandchildren and other family members.

In his younger years, Rodney was a talented baseball player, bowler and disc jockey. In his later years, he enjoyed movies and photography. Rodney’s love for the community and the City of Detroit was evidenced in his role as Vice President of the Woodbridge Senior Village. Affectionately known as “Slim Goodie” or “Hot Rod,” Rodney always displayed his charming personality and great sense of humor. He befriended and accepted people from all walks of life.

To cherish his memory, Rodney leaves his four children Nicole (Hermen), Rodney Jr. (Kimberly), Brunisha, and Roderick; his brothers Robert Jr. (deceased), Eugene (deceased), and Buford (Evie); his sister Pamela (deceased); his sisters-in-law, Magnolia and Louise, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
