Arthur L. Vaughn

January 25, 1946 — February 23, 2025

Arthur Lee Vaughn was born on January 25, 1946 in Detroit, MI to Rufus Vaughn and Ruth Carter. He was educated in the Detroit Public School system attending Norvel Elementary, Miller Junior High and graduated from Northeastern Senior High School in 1964. Arthur joined the United States Army in 1966 and was eventually honorably discharged. He worked for the city of Detroit and enjoyed an entrepreneurial career with Amway for a time.

Arthur was joined in marriage to Shirley Campbell and to this union was born Bernadette, Vivian and Arthur Jr. He later united with Bettie Winston and Krista was born. Finally he met and married Cheryl Taylor; they were married for over 20 years and had one daughter, Kimberly.

Arthur accepted Christ and was baptized on June 11, 1978 at Greater Grace Temple in Detroit. He enjoyed attending bible studies held in his apartment complex and kept his bible close as his time on earth came to a close, consistently proclaiming Jesus Christ as his Lord and savior.

Arthur was very personable, friendly and charismatic. He loved to cook and to eat a good meal. His homemade popcorn was one of his favorite snacks. Arthur enjoyed music and entertaining, especially in his younger years. He played the electric guitar and performed as part of a group while in the military. Mastering the CB radio and dominating the air waves was a hobby he spoke of often. His voice came through TVs, radios and trucks for miles. He went by “CASH MONEY” and gave Krista the handle “SMALL CHANGE.” It wasn’t until the FCC came knocking, that he then had to hang it up, or so the story goes. He really loved fishing and took up boating for a time. He enjoyed entertaining friends and family up and down  the Detroit river, frequenting restaurants in Canada and stateside. Arthur always had great stories to tell and photos to share regarding memorable events in his life and never missed an opportunity to tell a joke. He loved his family and friends deeply and will be remembered for his kind smile and warm personality. He will be greatly missed!

Arthur passed away peacefully on February 23, 2025. He was preceded in death by his mother Ruth, his father Rufus, his stepfather Turner Jackson Sr.; Cheryl Vaughn, Bettie Winston, his brothers Dietrich Jackson, Richard Vaughn, Alvon Vaughn; and his children Arthur Jr, Vivian and Bernadette.
