Betty Rose Fouche beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend made her transition on December 20, 2025. She was a woman of profound integrity, passion, and unwavering hope. Betty Rose was born in Detroit, MI to the union of David and Ida Mae (McWhorter) Gordon on October 3, 1937. Betty Rose was an only child. Betty Rose grew up in the Catholic faith. She graduated from St Agnes grade school and Madonna High School. Betty Rose went to Marygrove College. Betty Rose began her work career at Michigan Bell, which is now known as AT & T

On June 14, 1958, Betty Rose was united in holy matrimony to Alton Bernard Fouche. To this union five children were born: Michael, Kathleen, David, Janet & Jackie. They were actively involved in the lives of their children. Alton passed April 25, 2023.

Betty Rose was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Betty Rose loved being a homemaker. Betty Rose was the heartbeat of the home. She filled the household with guidance and creativity, leading her children in multiple art projects to celebrate every holiday. Betty Rose became a volunteer lunch mother while her children attended Gesu grade school. Betty Rose was actively involved in the LaSalle Gardens Block Club and hosted numerous famous folks running offices.

Betty Rose and Alton instilled the teachings of the Catholic faith and value of education in their children who were all sent to parochial grade schools and high schools. Betty Rose joined Our Lady of the Roses and she became a member of Third Order at St. Dominic. She was active parishioner at Gesu Catholic and St. Fabian before joining the parish of Prince of Peace.

Betty Rose returned to work force when all her children were teenagers. Betty Rose worked with physically challenged children until she took a job at the Student Career Affair Office at University of Detroit. Betty Rose became the lead receptionist at the University of Detroit Law School. She worked many years in this capacity and formed valued relationships with attorneys, professors, law students and co-workers. Her employment benefits with the university allowed her children to pursue higher education with tuition compensation.

After leaving the University of Detroit Law School, Betty Rose became the office manager for her daughter Kathleen’s psychiatric practice before retiring. In every role, she was a pillar of professionalism and a trusted confidante. In the mental health climate, one could only imagine the untold stories she could have told would have filled a novel by now.

Whether traveling the world, enjoying home-cooked meals with her daughters Janet (gourmet) and Kathleen, or playing the piano, Betty Rose embraced life with joy. Her travels were highlighted by a sacred and special visit to the Vatican, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica Betty Rose enjoyed helping others, reading, decorating, and shopping. Her greatest passion, however, was her family. She was a source of constant love and guidance for her children, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She took immense pride in her granddaughter, Dr. Camille, who provided care and guidance during her health challenges.

Betty Rose loved watching House Hunters, various Game shows, and Lifetime movies. Betty Rose looked forward to visits with Camille and Jake and Brooke, Luka and Skylar. Betty Rose enjoyed daily conversations with kids.

Betty Rose is proceeded in death by her parents David and Ida Mae Gordon, and husband Alton. Betty Rose leaves to cherish her memories: 5 children- Michael, Kathleen, David (Kim), Janet and Jackie, 6 granddaughters Camille (Jason), Sydney (Matthew), Dominique, Jodi, Sabrina and Brittney, 1 grandson (Justin), and 3 great grandchildren: Brooke, Luka Alton, and Skylar.
