Betty Mae Ware Lark was born on July 31, 1942, in Colquitt, Georgia, to her beloved parents, Zeddie and Lillie Mae Ware. Her tenacity, love, and authenticity left a lasting impression on everyone who crossed her path. Betty cherished her family, enjoyed traveling with friends, and had a deep bond with her beloved pets.
After completing her education in the Detroit public school system and obtaining her GED, she began a rewarding career as a nurse’s aide. Betty later dedicated 20 years to serving as a court reporter for the city of Detroit-Wayne county. A devoted member of Liberty Temple Baptist church, she lived her faith with grace and conviction.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Zeddie and Lillie Mae Ware; her sons, Derricka and Damon Lark; her daughter, Patrice Ware; her grandson derrick Lark Jr.; and her brothers, randy and jamie ware. She is survived by her brother marvin (gloria) ware; granddaughters Dershaun (Corey) Blanding, Dr. Dernecia (Trevin) Phillips, Deanna (James) Massey, and Kristina (Steve) Britt; great-grandchildren Michael Witmer, Dateus Harris, Corynne Blanding, Corey Blanding Jr., Jaden Smith, Laila Bailey, Leah Massey, Laiana Massey, Jameah Massey, Jaden Queen-Britt, Kamden Britt, Mason Britt, and Truth Britt; great-great-grandson Amani King Harris; nephews Devonte Stone and Demetrius Stone; nieces Janet Nichols, Chanél (Robert) McCarther, and Devon Ware; along with a host of extended family and friends.
