Betty Mae Moore

December 19, 1926 — September 5, 2022

Betty Mae Crenshaw Moore was born in Bolling, Alabama on December 19, 1926 to Lonnie Crenshaw and Annie (Payne) Crenshaw.  She attended Bolling School in Bolling, Alabama.  Betty was saved and baptized at Friendship Baptist Church in Bolling, Alabama.  One of her favorite memories was singing with her sisters in church and at family reunions.

In 1948, she married Esra Pugh and to this union three children were born, Gladys, Robert, and Curtis.  She loved the Lord and served in the church for many years.  In 1949-1962, she attended Rock of Ages Holiness Church in Pensacola, Florida.  They moved their family to Detroit, Michigan in 1963.

In 1975, she met and married Reuben Moore. To this union He brought five bonus children. Betty and Reuben served together as Deacon and Deaconess at Burnette Baptist Church, under the late Rev. James A. Caldwell.  From there, they joined Christian Tabernacle Church in 1987, and with much enthusiasm thoroughly enjoyed the overall experience.  Not only was the church closer to home, but it became the church for their entire family, as many family members joined the church over time.  They spoke highly of their church home with much passion and many praises for the Pastor (Dr. James and Loretta Morman), their family and the church family.  Every evening, one of their special times was watching Wheel of Fortune together.

Betty worked for the General Motors Corporation for over 25 years prior to her retirement.  She was a vibrant, caring, hard-working woman with a lot of joy and love for everyone.  She enjoyed gardening, worshiping, reading her bible and sewing with her sewing machine.  One of her favorite songs was “If anybody ask you who I am, Tell them I’m a Child of God” and One of her favorite scriptures was “I will bless the Lord at all times and His praise shall continually be in my mouth” ~ Psalm 34:1.

Two children Preceded her in death: Robert Pugh and Gladys Beaty. Two bonus children: Garland Moore and Reuben Moore, Jr.  Five Sisters: Catherine Little, Ellen Curry, Ammerine Pugh, Mary Francis Pugh, Annie Pearl Broughton.  Special Aunt, Alice Owens and Her very close cousin/sister, Louise Taylor, of whom she had a special relationship with.
