Obituary for
Shawntrese Renee Butler
Shawntrese Renee Butler (aka Shawn), was born March 3, 1973 in Detroit, MI. She was the baby girl of James and Carolyn Butler. Her parents called her ‘Nae Nae’. When they couldn’t reach Shawn, Nae Nae could always be reached. Shawn had a Blessed Christian upbringing. She had a Hebrew Bible and her mother would always call her to help translate scripture.
Shawn graduated from Southfield Lathrup High School in 1991. Shawn was a brilliant young lady who understood Trig & Algebra with ease. Her teachers always said Shawn did not want to be a student, but a leader in the class. Immediately following high school, Shawn attended Michigan State University majoring in electrical engineering. Shawn had a successful career at Detroit Axle. In 2006, Shawn decided to join her older sister, Gina along with many of her other family members in the medical field. In 2009, she graduated as Valedictorian from Baker College to become a RN. Shawn was an awesome nurse who worked as a RN at Henry Ford Hospital in West Bloomfield, Michigan. She was respected and loved by her patients and colleagues.
Shawn loved her family. She was a dear sister, free-spirited daughter and loving aunt. Shawn adored her niece, Keshauna Butler (aka Kissy), so much til where she would even tell people she was her daughter. Kissy was her heart. She was also Godmother to Jason De Riso, son of her lifelong dear friend Traci.
Shawn had a beautiful voice, huge heart and loved to laugh. She loved to crochet, watch movies and play with her dog ‘Jo Jo’. She was a fun loving person that kept people laughing. Shawn’s best friend was her dog, Jodi. She would often call her mom and dad and ask if they wanted to talk to their ‘grandson’ “Jodi”. She would often send them pictures of Jodi as well. Shawn also loved Beyonce and kept up with every song and dance.
All so sudden and too soon, at the early age of 41 Shawn made her transition into eternity with “Jodi” by her side on April 9, 2014 at home. God had his own plan to bring her home to Him. Her family loved her dearly and their lives will be forever changed without her to clown and love.
She leaves to cherish her memory: devoted parents, James & Carolyn Butler; 2 devoted sisters, Regina Butler and Vanessa Wright; a caring brother Reginald J. Butler and sister-in-law Adrienne Butler; 2 loving nieces, Patrice Wright and Keshauna (Kissy) Butler; 2 nephews ,Dasmine Wright and Reginald A. Butler and a great niece Keris Wright.
The family says “Goodnight Shawn, Goodnight.”
