Gerald Carter, Sr.
Mr. Gerald Carter, age 74, died at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, on Saturday, November 27, 2010 after struggling several years with kidney failure and heart disease. He was born January 15, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan to Darlean and Dan Carter. Gerald attended Detroit Public Schools where he enjoyed activities such as drafting, music and roller skating. He served in the Army National Guard of Michigan for three years. He met and married Nancy Arrington and they lived a happy family life until her death. Gerald worked at Cross and Peters, Better Made Potato Chips, Company performing various job titles until retiring in 2001. Both of his parents preceded him in death.
Gerald left behind to remember him include his brother, Sidney (Gloria) of Dawsonville, Georgia. Three children, Shaun (Emily) of Alpharetta, Georgia, Whitney Sabrina, and Gerald Jr., of Detroit, Michigan, two grandchildren; Maya and Akquan, one brother-in-law, Robert (Bessie) Arrington of Cleveland, Mississippi, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends and a special friend Shirley Rice of Detroit, MI.
