It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Casey Bert Jr., a beloved father, veteran, and dedicated professional. Born on March 21, 1936, in Brewton, Alabama, Casey departed this life on March 1, 2026, in Detroit, Michigan, at the age of 89.
Casey was a proud member of the United States Army, where he demonstrated unwavering commitment and service to his country. After his honorable discharge, he turned his dedication to the automotive industry, working as a foreman at Chrysler, where he was deeply respected by his colleagues for his work ethic and leadership.
He leaves behind his cherished daughters, Sophia Braswell and Sheila Peck, who remember him as a guiding light and a source of strength throughout their lives. Casey's love for his family, friends, and community was evident in how he lived every day with kindness, compassion, and humor.
A public viewing will be held in honor of Casey at James H. Cole Home for Funerals - Northwest Chapel on Sunday, March 8, 2026, from 9:00am - 9:00pm. A family hour will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Friendship Baptist Church, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Family, friends, and all who were touched by his life are invited to join in celebrating his remarkable journey.
Following the services, Casey will be laid to rest at Mt. Hope Memorial Gardens in Livonia, MI, in a burial ceremony designed to honor his legacy and the many lives he enriched during his lifetime.
Casey Bert Jr. will be remembered not only for his contributions to his work and community but also for the love, strength, and joy he brought to those around him. May he rest in peace, knowing that he was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
