Clarence Wynn
Clarence “Coach” Wynn passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. He was born on May 7, 1953, in Hurtsboro, Alabama, to Arthur Lee and Thelma Wynn. A graduate of Russell County High School, Clarence went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Talladega College—where he became a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.—and later his master’s degree from Eastern Michigan University.
After completing his education, Clarence moved to Detroit, Michigan, where he began his lifelong career as an educator with Detroit Public Schools. He served as a dedicated health and physical education teacher, mentor, and coach to countless students, retiring from Cass Technical High School in June 2010.
In 1978, Clarence married the love of his life, Phaer. Together they raised two children, Llaren and Clarence (“Clae”), and built a family grounded in love, laughter, and faith.
Clarence was known for his love of family, his passion for sports, and his enjoyment of golf. He touched the lives of many through his mentorship, kindness, and unwavering spirit.
