Obituary
Gordon Conyers was born in Detroit, Michigan to Lillian Conyers on February 19, 1948. His mother precedes him in death. Gordon was a graduate of Northern High School (The Big N.O.).
In June of 1966 Gordon graduated from Northern High School where his specialty was basketball. He was offered a 4- year scholarship to Michigan Lutheran College. Gordon never married or had any children but was a lifetime resident of the city of Detroit. He had a brother Marcus who preceded him in death along with his forever-loving grandmother whom he was very close to; unfortunately Gordon’s family all loved and assured him that they would meet up again one day.
Gordon worked hard and diligently at Ford’s Livonia Transmission Plant from April 24, 1989 where he spent the majority of his time being a dedicated worker of labor and assembly. The one close friend of Gordon’s never left his side Larry Lewis where they shared a lifetime of laughs and sorrows for 55 years. In Gordon’s last days was cared for by the late Brenda Primm and Kelly Lewis who made sure he was comfortable and well taken care of throughout his suffering. Those of us that knew Gordon knew his passion was supporting the Michigan public school system through the Michigan Lottery Commission. In his pass time he enjoyed playing the odds and winning the big bucks.
Suddenly on February 8, 2011 Gordon departed this life in a peaceful state. He leaves to cherish his memories the family and friends that remain.
There’s an open gate at the end of the road
Through which each must go alone
And there is a light we cannot see
Our father claims his own
Beyond the gates your loved one finds happiness and rest
And there is comfort in the thought that a loving God knows best...
