Alex Russell Crumpler was born on November 30, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Hosea
and Ludie Crumpler. He was third of six children. Alex attended Detroit Public Schools and was
a graduate of George Washington Trade School with a welding certification. Alex worked as a
welder for 30 years before retiring from Chrysler Automotive in 1977.
Alex married Shirley Ann Terry in December of 1949. They raised four children; Donna, Gina,
Dale, and their oldest son Alex Don who preceded him in death.
In his youth Alex enjoyed playing musical instruments, drawing, and motor cycle riding. In his
later years Alex enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was considered a marksman in shooting. He loved
his home and spent much of time doing home improvements and spending time with his
grandchildren and great grandchildren.
At the glorious age of 93, Alex fell asleep in peace and is survived by His wife Shirley, Sister
Jean, children, Donna, Gina and Dale. Son in law Louis. Grandchildren Marcus, Diana, Kim,
Joseph, Kristina, and Jason. Alex leaves a host of great grandchildren, family, and friends to
cherish his memory.
Alex will be laid to rest at Elmwood Cemetery in Detroit, Michigan
