Dewitt Cannon

November 30, 1957 — July 16, 2024

DEWITT CANNON WAS BORN ON November 30, 1957, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Herbert Lee Cannon and Elizabeth Cannon.

Dewitt, grew up and lived in Detroit, Michigan and attended Detroit Public Schools. He graduated, receiving his GED from a General GED program. Dewitt later attended trade school and furthered his education. Dewitt worked on ships at the Ship Corporation on the dock, at Great Lake River. He later retired. 

 Dewitt was known by his friends as ‘Whiskey’. He was devoted to his family and friends. Dewitt enjoyed riding his bike and having a good time joking around with his friends and family. 

Dewitt loved people and loved to work. Dewitt was a handyman; he knew how to fix things. Dewitt was skilled in painting, and he knew how to get the job done right. He was a phenomenal artist. He was a craftsman. He could make something out of nothing. 

In in his own way, Dewitt loved and believed in GOD, being a believer in Jesus Christ. He was God fearing. 

Dewitt leaves to cherish his loving sister Yvonne Ann Tolbert and brother in-law (Mark) Tolbert, seven nieces: Lakina (Christopher) Fulks, Shakia Goss; Finance (Jason), Keturah (Brandon) Ferguson, Markita (Denzel) Evans, Raqisha Tolbert, Marquett (Labron) Coleman, Sherita (David) Samuel, one nephew Mark Jr, (Katrina) Tolbert, One Aunt: Ruth Williams. Dewitt cherishes his godson Terry Rodgers, and close brotherly friend Al Hicks, and many other close friends. And a host of great nieces and great nephews, Additionally, Dewitt leaves behind a host of close family members; The Cannon family, first cousins Fred Cannon Jr, Clay (Dawn) Cannon, Lisa Cannon, Linda Crimes, Brenda Scott-Fulgium, Sarina (Mark) Bias, Nina “Pookie” Miller, Joe Howard Jr., Gary Love, Sandra Jones, Casandra (Michael) Davenport, and many other cousins.
