Dorothy Warren

November 8, 1933 — September 28, 2022

Dorothy Jean (Woodhouse) Warren was born on November 8, 1933, in Berlin, Alabama, to the late Norman J. and Callie Robinson. She was the oldest of two children, her sister, Velma Scott.

Dorothy professed Christ at an early age. She moved to Detroit, Michigan where she married Matthew Woodhouse of Arkansas. From this union, three sons were born: Matthew Jr., Michael and Mark. She later married Gene Warren (deceased).

            Dorothy attended Miller High School of Detroit, Michigan and graduated with Summa Cum Laude honors. She was on their cheerleading team. She also attended the University of Michigan and Wayne State University.

She was an employee for the State of Michigan as a social worker for 27 years where she retired on April 1, 1993. She enjoyed retirement for 29 years.

Dorothy had a great fondness for family outings, music, sewing, crocheting, embroidery, gardening, reading books, the arts festivals, tennis, aerobics, and crossword puzzles. At one time, she was a den mother for the Cub Scouts.

Dorothy departed this life on September 28, 2022, at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Keith Hunter of Detroit, Michigan.

Dorothy leaves to cherish her loving memories: three sons; Matthew Jr. (Marlena) of Detroit, Michigan; Michael (Joanne) of W. Bloomfield, Michigan and Mark of Atlanta, Georgia; her sister Velma Scott of Detroit, Michigan; former husband Matthew Woodhouse (Sr) of Detroit, Michigan; two grandsons: DeShawn of Detroit, Michigan and Michael II (Britani) of Southfield, Michigan; two granddaughters: Kristen of Southfield, Michigan and Domonique of Jackson, Michigan; two great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; one great-great granddaughter; one special friend; Ella Allen (43 years); one good friend, Roselie A. Ehmke and a host of relatives.
