Obituary

Mr. Edward Dominic Keir Moore departed this life and entered the arms of Jesus on Sunday, October 9th, 2022 after a battle with several health issues at the age of 58 years. He was born April 11, 1964 in Detroit, Michigan to George Washington Moore & Katie Jane (Reid) Moore. Edward was the tenth child of their union.

Edward accepted Christ at an early age while attending Blessed Sacrament Cathedral in Detroit. He joined New Prospect Baptist Church in 1991 where he chose to be baptized as an adult by Pastor Keith L. Whitney. He later joined his current church home Dunamis Outreach Ministries in 1999 under the leadership of Senior Pastors Reginald & Kelly Lane. He served with the Covenant Brothers, Parking Lot Ministry and Aquila & Priscilla Marriage Ministry.

Edward attended both public/private school in the Highland Park school system and surrounding areas. He attended Cortland Public School, St. Benedict School, Shrine Catholic High School and Highland Park Community High School. As a child, he enjoyed time spent at Camp Ozanam. While in school, Edward matured and earned accolades for football, basketball, track, band and as a DJ for the high school radio station. He graduated from Highland Park Community High School in 1982. After high school, Edward attended Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan, as a Business Administrator major, where he played college football.

Edward was employed with several banking institutions over two decades. His work experience ranged from senior teller, foreign exchange banking, customer service, branch management, mortgage loans and held Series 6 & 63 licenses. He also co-chaired with a co-worker at a mentor program at Sherrard Middle School in Detroit, MI. He later began a career as a licensed life insurance agent.

He was introduced to the love of his life by a dear friend, Marca Brown, who arranged a blind date with Yolande Smithers in 1988. On November 10th, 1990, they were joined in holy matrimony. They were married for 31 yrs. To this union two children were born – their beautiful daughter, Dominique and their handsome son, Dominic. This was the was the beginning of the Mighty Mighty Moores.

Edward was a true sport enthusiast. He enjoyed watching all sports even his beloved Detroit Lions. He was a true gamer from cards to Monopoly. He also loved to engage in heated discussions about politics and the latest news headlines.

Edward was preceded in death by: his parents, George & Katie Moore and sisters, Deborah Ingram and Margaret Compton; and many other relatives and friends.

Edward leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife, Yolande Moore; his devoted children, Dominique and  Dominic Moore; sisters, Linda Ross of Honolulu, HI and Sharon (Ted) Wheeler of Oak Park, MI; brothers, George Moore Jr of Detroit, MI, Roderick (Denise) Moore of Sterling, VA, Steven (Tanya) Moore of Wahiawa, HI, Muhammed (Lisa) Abdul-Guddus of Belleville, MI and Christopher (Cynthia) Moore of Cleveland, OH;  godchildren: Anthony Stewart, Danielle Buford, Markesha Davis, Drake Fletcher and Miranda Miller; in-laws Nolan & Earleen Smithers; brother-in-law, Nolan Smithers, Jr. and a host of nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
