Whereas God in His infinite wisdom has seen fit to call from our midst Carolyn J. Edwards, we bow in humble submission to His will and pause to reflect on the beautiful life of our beloved.
We therefore rejoice to think of the joyous eternity which began at 11:49pm on Friday, December 18. Our beloved sister passed through Glory’s Morning Gate and walked into paradise.
Carolyn was born on June 4, 1954 in Galveston, Texas to John and Juanita Jackson. Her father affectionately called her “Penny” shortly after her birth recognizing her size in nature but her significance in life. A name we all know in which she lovingly embraced.
Penny was raised in a Christian family and was baptized at an early age by Reverend Adam Joseph at St. John Baptist Church in Opelousas, LA. She attended and graduated from Opelousas High School prior to continuing her education at Lorain County Community College where she studied Liberal Arts.
On January 6, 1973, Penny was united in Holy matrimony to Alvin E. Edwards. A daughter and a son were born to this bond of love. Penny was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and, great-grandmother. She was family oriented in every sense of the word. A strong faith in God; Penny continued her Christian journey after moving to Elyria, Ohio where she attended the Mt. Zion Baptist Church and remained a member for over 30 years.
Penny was a woman of strength with invaluable principles. As an advocate for the youth, Penny provided a platform and seized every opportunity to enlighten and inspire them. Penny left a beautiful lasting impression that will forever remain in our hearts.
Penny was preceded in death of her parents, grandparents and one brother. She leaves to celebrate her life, Alvin her husband, two children Toya “Toy” and Troy Edwards; grandchildren, Diiamond, DeShawn “Dino”, Destiny, Alexis, Aliyah, Amarionna and Troy Jr.; one great- grandchild Dominique Jr.; siblings Henry Mack (Ira Ann), Linda Faye, Jewel Bernita and Freddie Lee; a special niece and nephew Robyne and Corwin “Damon” and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
