Mrs. Ellen “Gwen” Johnson, 83, of Detroit, Michigan, was born in Pontiac, Michigan on January 25, 1940. She was the only child born to the late Albert and Emily Glenn.
Gwen was baptized and accepted Christ into her life at an early age. She received her education in the Detroit Public School System. She worked at Ford Motor Company for Thirty-Four (34) years and retired in 2004. Gwen was a devoted, strong, caring, and passionate woman. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her favorite pastimes were going to the casinos, listening to music, and spending time with her family and friends whom she adored. Gwen had a heart made of gold and passionately loved those close to her with all her heart. She lived a very full and rewarding life.
On April 20, 2023, Gwen peacefully gained her wings after a prolonged illness. She was preceded in passing by her parents; her two (2) sons, Herman “Skip” Clark and Louis “Butch” Clark (Jane); and her great-grandson, Jamarion Jones.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: her loving and devoted husband of Forty-One years (41) years, Lawrence “Larry” Johnson; a devoted and loving daughter Emily “Cookie” Clark; one loving step-son, Larry Davis (Rose); Twelve (12) loving grand-children: Angel Clark, LaShawnda Henry, Brittany Clark, Cassie Clark, Louis (“LB”) Clark II, Janae Clark, Jamal (Teko) Craft, Wynton Johnson, Keith Jones, Korey Jones, Devin Walls, and Ashley (Stoney) Townsend; a host of great-grandchildren whom she adored: Khloe, Desmond, Brooklyn, Kendell, Kayden, Colin, Kodi, Caleb, Jaden, Carter, D’Aire, Alayna, Angel, Korey Jr., Rilee, Bailee, De’Andre, Jachobi, Keygan AJ, Asia, Madison, Hunter; a loving and caring sister-in-law, Hazel Glenn; her cousin whom she shared a special bond, Shelia Flemming, her niece, Dawn Scott, her life-long best friend, Minnie Johnson; a host of cousins, loving family and friends.
Gwen Johnson was a woman of wisdom and integrity who significantly impacted our lives and countless others. She is loved more than we could ever say. Her legacy will continue to live on through our lives and the lives of all those she touched.
