Emma D. Underwood

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our matriarch Emma D. Underwood, who departed this life on July 10, 2025. Emma was born on April 21, 1925, in Leighton, Alabama, where her roots were firmly planted and where she first nurtured the values of love, hard work, and resilience that would define her life.

Emma dedicated her life to creating a warm and nurturing home for her family. She instilled love and strength in her children and grandchildren, who are among her survivors mourning the loss of a vibrant spirit who touched all who knew her.

In celebration of Emma's remarkable life, a public viewing will be held at James H. Cole Home for Funerals - Northwest Chapel on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 3:00pm - 9:00pm. This will offer family and friends the opportunity to gather in remembrance of her indomitable spirit and the joy she brought to our lives. A funeral service will follow on Saturday, July 26th, at 3:30 PM, with a family hour prior at 3:00 PM, also at James H. Cole Northwest Chapel. It will be a time to honor and reflect upon the cherished memories shared with Emma, a testament to a life well-lived and a heart full of love.

As we come together to celebrate her life, let us remember Emma D. Underwood as a steadfast pillar of strength, warmth, and unwavering love. Though she has departed from this world, her legacy will continue to live on in the lives she so deeply impacted.
