Fred Evans
Fred Evans, Sr. was born in Crawford County, Georgia, July 29, 1928 to the union of the late Walter and Mary Jane Evans. He was the youngest of nine children. Eight siblings preceded him in death.
Fred attended Rock college School in Crawford County. He served in the United States Army from 1950 – 1952.
In 1958, Fred was reunited with his childhood friend Rosia Lee “Dot” Howard (preceding him in death) and her young son, the late Mitchell Howard. Fred and Dot were married on August 7, 1958. To this union one son, Fred Evans, Jr. was born.
He retired in 1993 from General Motors’ Willow Run plant with 31½ years of service.
In spite of his declining health, Fred maintained a great sense of humor. He lived independently and enjoyed spending quality time with relatives, friends, and former co-workers.
He departed this life on December 25, 2013.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories; one son, Fred Evans, Jr., Denver, Colorado; one granddaughter, Michelle Howard, Detroit, Michigan; one very close friend; Jewel Smith, Detroit, Michigan; and a host of nieces, and nephews.
