Florine B. Anderson died peacefully at home on June 4th, 2023, after a long battle with dementia. Florine was born in New Orleans on March 23rd, 1931, to Delores Villere Duplessis and Emile Duplessis Sr.
Florine moved to Detroit at eleven years old. She attended Northern High School. She was joined in matrimony to Jack Vasconcellos in 1948 of that union there were two daughters, Rhea, Michele, and a son Manwell who died shortly after birth.
After the dissolution of her first marriage, she married her loving husband Alfred David Anderson and remained married for 39 years to the time of his death.
Florine had a long career in the communications field. Starting at Michigan Bell Telephone Company and ending her career with Communications Workers of America (CWA) where she was a National Representative.
She was a devout Catholic and worshiped with many parishioners over her lifetime, most recently Blessed Sacrament Cathedral in Detroit.
Florine was proceeded in death by her father Emile Duplessis Sr., mother, Delores Ward, step-father William Ward, sister Marlene Talley, husband Alfred David Anderson and infant son Manwell Vasconcellos. She is survived by her devoted loving daughters Rhea Vasconcellos (Mark), Michele Vasconcellos, and son Michael Anderson and numerous other family members and friends. Visitation with family Thursday, June 15th, 2023, James H. Cole Funeral Home (Schaefer, Detroit) 5-9pm. Funeral Service Blessed Sacrament Cathedral (Detroit) Friday, June 16th, 2023 10am.
