Gail Alexander, 78, of Whitmore Lake, Michigan was born on November 1,
1943 to Robert and Sylvia McNorriell in Gadsden, Alabama. She was the
only child born of this union, but her mother blessed her with three
siblings through a subsequent union.
She received her early education in Alabama and graduated with honors
from Northwestern High School in Detroit, Michigan on June 23, 1961.
After graduation, she worked for Himelhoch’s as an elevator operator
while attending college. She completed her studies at Highland Park
Community College to become a Dental Assistant at Dr. Blackwell’s
Dental Office.
Gail McNorriell was married to James Alexander, Sr by Rev. M. B.
Terrell, Sr at the home of her mother, Sylvia Sims during the summer
on August 3, 1963. To this union a daughter and son were born.
The pleasures she enjoyed most were socializing; listening to Rock n’
Roll, Motown sounds, R&B; fresh cut hydrangeas and wearing hats. You
could bring a smile to her face for sure with Kentucky Fried Chicken,
green beans, mashed potatoes with gravy…don’t forget the Pepsi.
Through her life, she loved the best she could.
Preceding her in this heavenly ascent are her parents, granddaughter, and uncle.
Left to hold her memories dear are her daughter, Sylvia Smith; son,
James Alexander, Jr.; grandson, James Alexander III; brother, Erich
Sims and sister, Gloria Sims all of Detroit, MI; sister, Karen Sims of
Waterford, MI; a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and
friends.
