Denise L. Giles

March 28, 1959 — May 31, 2021

Denise Lucille Giles was born to the late Clifford and Gwendoyln Giles on March 28,1959 but was raised by her great-aunt and husband James/ Pauline Cotton at a young age. They preceded her in death. Her Godparents Solomon and Joyce Farrar stepped in even though Solomon always said “That’s Teresa’s Daughter”. She was very much loved.
Denise wasn’t a traditional girl. She did things her own unique way. She grew up on the Westside of Detroit {1635 Collingwood} to be exact. We all have memories there or at least heard stories. The Legendary Miss Denise Giles made a name for herself from 12th Street to the NorthEnd whether you met the good side or the bad side but she didn’t sugar coat anything.
Ms. Giles worked as a floor monitor at Harbor Light Rehabilitation Center for about 5 years. Life outside of work: Denise's life was made up by the people that was in it. She was a lady with a big heart and if you needed a place to stay, she was there to open her home up for you, for a small fee. If you were hungry and she had it,so did you just don’t eat before her kids.
A true a friend indeed, in her free time she enjoyed going to the casino, out to restaurants, concerts and every single last Tyler Perry play with her (P.I.C) Mickey (Leslie Lee). OH and you can’t forget her birthday because she’s not going to allow to. There’s no birthday party like Denise Giles party because a Denise Giles party don’t stop. Big on family, yes indeed, she was I know you not supposed to have a favorite but Denise didn’t play about her “Miss Taylor”. Baby Taylor was one grandchild she made sure she called every day. She wasn’t always nice; she was a woman who said whatever came to her mind without a care in the world and didn’t mind expressing her favorite word to you, your spouse, kid or even your dog and at the end of the day you still had the same love for her because that’s just who she was and she will truly be missed.
Denise was the Baby girl of 8 Siblings which 6 Proceeds her in death Diane, Sharon Wilkins, Rev. Carolyn Reid, Jacqueline Wright, Clifford Giles Jr., & Gregory Giles. She leaves behind Calvin Howell,Deborah Stewart, her Aunt Margaret Riley and 6 Biological Kids : Latrice Giles, Terrance Giles, Denise Sanford, Taylor Been, Pauline Sanford, & Derrick Williams. 4 Extended kids: Carlton Smith , Michelle Timmons, Alvin Sanford and Terrice Alexzander (deceased) and a host of grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Friends and Loved ones
