Deacon Glenn Lee "Horton" Ray Sr. sadly passed away unexpectedly at the age of 67 on June 6, 2025, at Ascension Macomb Hospital, with his loving sons by his side. Glenn was born on December 14, 1957, in Detroit, Michigan, to Elza Lee Ray and Valeria Ray. Glenn was a loving and devoted father and son. Glenn survived by his loving mother, Valeria Ray, for whom he was her only son and a lifelong source of pride and joy; his children, Glenn Ray Jr., and Andre Ray; his grandchildren, Glenn Ray III and Leeland Ray; and his half brother Vincent Ray. He was preceded in death by his father, Elza Lee Ray.
Glenn not only graduated high school with honors, he was also offered a full time position with Michigan Bell and bought his first house on Detroit's east side all of this, by the age of 18. Glenn was married in 1994 and had two beautiful boys, which he would help raise into strong God-fearing men. After working diligently, amassing many lifelong friends, and working various roles for over 30 years, Glenn retired from AT&T and began a life in service to the Lord wherein on July 26, 2009. Glenn was ordained as a permanent deacon for Divine Favor Ministries. His faithful service, love and faith in the Lord, and cheerful disposition was an inspiration to many.
"God Got Me" was Glenn's most popular catchphrase, showcasing the unflinching bond he built with the Lord. He leaned on the power of the Holy Spirit to remain positive and blessed even as he fought multiple health ailments late in his life. An unforgettable spirit and personality Glenn will be missed by all of those he touched from his friends and family, neighbors, colleagues, and those in his church and greater community.
