Janetta Hall

March 12, 1935 — April 3, 2020

Janetta “Toni” Hall was born in Detroit on March 12, 1935 to the late Clifton and Helen Garrett. She had one sister, Jean Terry (proceeded in death). Janetta was raised in the church and baptized at an early age. Janetta graduated from Eastern High School and attended secretarial school.

At nineteen years old Janetta met and married Gaston Richard Hall (proceeded in death). Janetta and Gaston had five children, Anthony, Jacqueline, Iris, June and Kimberly. She worked at Thorn Apple Valley for thirty-one years until her retirement.

She was a humble and faithful member of St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church for nearly forty years. Janetta made it her duty to serve through fellowship, volunteerism, foodservice, committee work and the Mother’s Board. Janetta was honored as St. Matthew’s Churchwoman of the Year and she loved her Church family. She has always provided spiritual guidance to her kids, grandkids and friends.

Janetta is survived by her loving children, one son, Anthony Hall (Carol), four daughters, Jacqueline Martin (Charles), Iris Lane (Horace), June Reed, Kimberly Black (Ronald); one sister, Jean Terry (proceeded in death). Brother-in-Law, Alexander Hall, Sister-in-Law, Portia Ridgeway; Grandchildren who affectionately referred to her as Grand, DeShawn Hall (DeAnna), Juan Hall (Katlin), Randy Hall, Lloyd Hall, Anthony Hall, Gregory Jackson, Camille Hall and Rashawn Black; 10 great-grandchildren that love and cherish her and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, nephews, other friends and neighbors. Aunt Toni loved her family.
