Irene Hankinson was born on December 23, 1919 in Senatobia, Mississippi, to the late Asa and Ida Hunter. She moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1938, where she married the late Lawrence Hankinson. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Lawrence Jr.; her husband; her parents and her sister, Margarite Bonner.
She leaves behind a loving family to mourn her loss and cherish her memory: her loving daughters, Jean Duckett and Mary Wilson of Detroit, Michigan; a devoted son-in-law Charlie Wilson; Six grandchildren, Darryl (Michelle) Hankinson, Charles (Althea) Wilson, James Wilson, Robert Wilson, Eboney (Kevin) Bascomb and Edrienna Franklin; eight great-grandchildren, James Darryl Hankinson, Jacquan Hankinson, Valerie (Domnique) Wilson, Gabryel Wilson, Alexys Wilson, Darion Hankinson, Arriyanna Franklin, Zariah Bascomb; an aunt, Eleanor Rainge; Uncles, Homer (Johnnie) Hunter and Douglas (Dora) Hunter of Rochester, New York and many cousins and friends.
