It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jennifer Renee Oatis, a cherished wife, beloved educator, and dedicated member of the Detroit community, who left us on July 10, 2025, at the age of 47. Born on December 1, 1977, in Detroit, Michigan, Jennifer's life was an inspiring journey of love, learning, and profound impact on the lives of those she touched.
Jennifer, who held a Master's Degree in Education, devoted her career to enlightening and nurturing the minds of the youth. Her passion for teaching was matched only by her unwavering commitment to fostering a positive environment where learning could flourish. She approached each day with joy and enthusiasm, believing in the limitless potential of every child she encountered. As an educator, she was a beacon of hope and inspiration, and her legacy will live on in the countless hearts and minds she influenced.
Jennifer is survived by her loving husband, Lavon Brown, who remains deeply grateful for the love and companionship they shared together. She is remembered not only for her accomplishments but also for her kindness, resilience, and the warmth she brought into every room.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jennifer's life and legacy during the following services. A public viewing will take place on Thursday, July 24, 2025, from 4:00pm to 9:00pm at the James H. Cole Home for Funerals - Northwest Chapel. The Family Hour will commence the next day, Friday, July 25th, at 10:30 am at the Second Ebenezer Church, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 am. We invite all who knew and loved Jennifer to join us in honoring her memory.
Jennifer will be laid to rest on July 25, 2025, at the serene grounds of Grandlawn Cemetery, 23501 Grand River Ave, Detroit, MI, where she will find her eternal peace.
