She was the youngest daughter of six siblings--Joseph Smith, Andrew Smith Jr., Constance Duhe’, Mary Allen, and Dolores Anderson--born to Andrew J. Smith, Sr. and Josephine M. She was raised in Detroit, and attended Detroit Public Schools including Northwestern High School, and subsequently attended Howard University; returned to Detroit where she married and divorced Robert B. Johnson, and raised her family; was the proud mother of five children--two of which tragically died during the early years of their young lives, Patrice A. Johnson and Gail M. Moore (wife Tiffany) and Brandon A. Moore, and great grandmother to Josiah B. Moore; aunt to Kathi Allen. She retired from the Chrysler Engine Plant in 1992 where she was highly active with the UAW, enjoyed league bowling, and cruise ship travel. Later, she taught kiln-fired ceramics production classes; was a life-long learner, evidenced by her learning silkscreen printing, calligraphy, sand art terrarium design, attending dog-training classes with Q-Tip, and was an avid computer user.
