Guelda, the second eldest child of Walter and Estelle Scott, was born on May 3, 1922, in Puce, Ontario, Canada, where she was educated in a one room schoolhouse.
In 1941, she met her soul mate, Rufus, at a church event in Windsor, Canada. After a whirlwind courtship, they were married on February 14th,1942 in Detroit, Michigan. There they lived until 1946 when they purchased their home in River Rouge, Michigan. They were blessed with two children, Darryl Owen Jones and Charlotte Avyn Jones Lloyd.
Guelda worked in the Central Supply department at Providence Hospital in Detroit for 25 years until retiring in 1981. She was very active with St. John AME Church in River Rouge and a member of the Altar Guild. Guelda was also the last living member of the De-Icer Social club.
Guelda was preceded in death by her husband of 77 years, her sisters and brothers-in-law: Dorothy and Zip Johnson, Phyliss and George Gardner,Eloise and Carl Rhue, brother, Wayman Scott; sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Johnnie Johnson and brother-in-law, Douglas Ellsworth.
She is survived by her sisters, Agnes Ellsworth and Katherine(Vincent) McMullen; sister-in-law, Bertha Scott and children, Darryl and Charlotte; daughter-in law, Sandy; grandchildren, Nichelle (Samuel), Ericka (Steve), Jennifer (Derrick), James, Darryl and Steven; great-grandchildren, DeVaughn, Derrick, Jameasa, Destiny, Elijah, Julian, Gabriel, DeNyah, Brooke, Mason, and Steven; great-great grandchildren, Lauren, Maya, Leo, Lorieal and Quintin; niece, Pamela Wilkins and many more nieces and nephews.
