Obituary for
Ruth H. Jones
Ruth Hazel Moore Jones was born on November 14, 1917 in Ann Arbor, Michigan and was adopted by Amanda J. Moore of Romeo, Michigan in 1920. She was educated in the Romeo Public School System and completed a nursing program provided by the Chicago School of Nursing.
In 1937 she married Everett Henry Jones Sr. and became the step-mother to his two children. To this union seven children were born. Her husband, Everett, Sr. and two sons, Everett, Jr. and Richard preceded her in death.
Ruth was employed and retired from the Nursing Department of Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Joining People’s Community Church under the Pastoral leadership of Reverend Carlyle F. Stewart, was later baptized, confirming her acceptance of Jesus Christ as her Savior. She was an active member of People’s Community Church for many years until her health prevented her participation. While active she served with the Nurses Guild and numerous organizations within the Church and various Community groups, such as the Michigan Civil Air Patrol and VFW.
Family was the center of her life and she leaves to cherish her memory seven children, Winifred Smoot, Theresa Greene of Detroit, MI; Gerry Jones (Oliva) of Las Vegas, NV; Lauranetta Tucker of Canton, MI; Robert Jones (Anetta) of Ingalls, IN; William Jones, Sr. (Sharon) of Farmington Hills, MI; Nancy Bonaparte (Charles) of Canton, MI. Two nieces, Cynthia Roseborough of Detroit, MI; Marion Hood (Zannie) of Port Charlotte, FL. Twenty-four (24) grandchildren; twenty-two (22) great-grandchildren and twelve (12) great-great grandchildren. In addition to many friends of her children and grandchildren who lovingly called her Grandma Jones.
While sleeping peacefully during the evening of May 12, 2011, Ruth made her transition to everlasting life.
