Obituary for Johnny Morris Jordan

Johnny Jordan was born a twin on November 2, 1929, in Detroit, Michigan. Johnny was the fifth of seven children born to Frank and Elizabeth Jordan. Johnny has reunited with his twin brother Frank, his sisters Sarah, Margaret, and Celia, and his younger brother Robert, on December 22, 2012 .

Johnny attended Northern High School before joining the Army in 1946. During his time in the Army, Johnny won the 5th Engineering Group’s 175lb Boxing Championship. Johnny also served in the Korean War. Following his Service in the Army, Johnny returned home and started work at Ford Motor Company. Johnny was employed at Ford Motor Company from May 5, 1963 to September 1, 1989. At Ford, Johnny was a Union Stewart and Committee Man for UAW Local 600. Johnny also worked part-time as a Security Officer at Highland Park General Hospital from 1965 until the facility closed in 1976.

Johnny was married twice. From these unions, he was blessed with five daughters and two sons. A fun-loving dad, uncle, and friend, Johnny enjoyed spending time with his family. Johnny was always available with a shoulder to cry on and joke to tell that would wiped away your tears. Everybody’s "Uncle Johnny" would light up a room or liven-up a party, just by walking in. Cards and Dominos were his forte. You had to be good to win.

Those left to celebrate Johnny’s life include his loving sister Agnes Yarbrough; daughters Sharon, Anita, Diane, Wanda, and Johnetta; sons Norman and John Eric; 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

We won’t mourn Johnny’s passing. We will celebrate his life and know that he is with our Father in heaven and with us in Spirit.
