Mr. Kent Madison Bowman was born on June 1, 1962, in Detroit, Michigan, to Walter Ludwig Bowman and Jeannette Frederika Bowman.Deeply faithful, Kent went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 28, 2024. He was the youngest of three children: Victor Bowman, Kent Bowman and Lesa Bowman Wilson. Kent was initially baptized at an early age at Second Grace Methodist Church in Detroit, and was baptized again, as an adult at Triumph Church in Detroit, where he joined as a member. Kent Bowman attended Courtis Elementary, George Ford Junior High School, Detroit Country Day High School, and graduated from Detroit Mumford High School. Known as “K.B.,” Kent was an excellent and elite athlete all his life in football and basketball and was a letter winner in basketball at Detroit Mumford High School. Kent went on to attend to Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, and University of Detroit Mercy. Kent was a devoted and loving father to his two children: Amanda Bowman Collins (Laurence Collins) and Izaiha Bowman (Taylor), and expectant grandfather to Aubrey Madison Collins. Kent’s charisma and uplifting spirit was infectious. Almost immediately upon meeting Kent, you were his friend. Kent was well-liked by all. Kent was a long-standing, respected, admired, and inspirational member of the recovery community as a mentor, sponsor, and speaker. His life will continue to be celebrated and cherished by his children, Amanda and Izaiha; nephews, Branson Boykins and Alexander Bowman; niece, Leah Boykins Coleman; and devoted cousins, friends, and colleagues.
