Vida Kilby

Devoted mother, grandmother, and friend Vida Lee Kilby was born in Harriman, Tennessee on December 22, 1914. She departed this life on August 28, 2013 in Detroit, Michigan.

Vida married her beloved husband Thomas Kilby in 1939. Thomas preceded her in death. The 66 1/2 year union produced two children: Beverly (Kilby) Love, and Gordon Kilby. Gordon preceded Vida in death.
Throughout Vida’s life, she was very active in numerous clubs and activities at St. Stephen A.M.E. Church. She was also very active in the “block club” in the neighborhood that she called home for nearly 60 years.
In Vida’s nearly 99 years on this earth she cared for four generations: Her younger sisters and brothers; her children , nieces and nephews, and their friends; her grandchildren and great-nieces and nephews, and their friends; her great-grandchildren and their friends.

Everyone who came to know Vida loved and adored her not only for her caring nature but her spunky personality and witty sense of humor. Everyone also loved her cooking. One of the many ways that she showed her love was by giving you something good to eat.

Vida will be truly missed but we can all rejoice in knowing that although she is absent from the body she is present with the Lord!
