Catherine Longstreet (Robinson) was born Tuesday, November 19, 1946 in Florence, Mississippi to Henry Lee and Mazaree (Meyers) Robinson. Like many African American families, the Robinsons would relocate "up north" to Toledo, Ohio when she was five and she was raised there happily with her three siblings: Henry Leon (Etelia), Roddie Lee (Delores) and Janette (James).
Catherine accepted Christ at an early age but was not baptized until her later years in 2006 at Greater Grace Temple, Detroit, Michigan where she remained a faithful member.
Catherine was educated in the Toledo Public School system, graduating 8th in her class from Woodward High School in 1964. Catherine was known for her sweet, endearing personality and academics, particularly good in Accounting & Mathematics. She participated in Honor Society and Booster Spirit Team activities. She would continue her education through her employers City of Toledo and Manufacturers/Comerica Bank, completing Detroit College of Business courses and obtaining several Information Technology certifications.
Catherine was employed with Manufacturers/Comerica Bank for 39 years working in various computer operations/programmer positions. She retired in 2008 as a certified Customer Support Technical Expert in the Client Support Center.
Catherine was joined in holy matrimony with Charles Oliver Longstreet, Sr. on Saturday, April 5, 1969. The union of 50 years produced Julia Nicole Longstreet and Charles Oliver Longstreet, II (Kristine). They proudly raised them in her beloved Detroit.
Catherine enjoyed hangouts with family, "girlfriend" outings, trips and adventures with her daughter Julia, sister Janette and niece Daphne, socializing with friends like playing scrabble and cards with Joyce Wilson (deceased), going to movies with her brother Roddie, shopping and lunching with the Comerica Crew (Loretta, Norma, Shirley, Vickie, Laura & Cloretta), attending Detroit festivals, relaxing in her home watching tv and reading. Most of all, she treasured time with her children and the next generations of Robinsons & Longstreets.
Catherine departed this life Wednesday, March 25, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Henry Leon, sister Janette and grand-nephew Joshua Jarrell Willis.
Catherine leaves to cherish her memories: husband Charles Sr., daughter Julia, son Charles II, stepdaughter Glenda Renee Smith, daughter-in-law Kristine, niece Daphne Derden, nephew Henry Lee Robinson (Raquel) , uncle Willie Robinson, cousin Carolyn Robinson Johnson and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
