Lue G. Doyle

March 23, 1944 — February 24, 2022

Lue G. Doyle
Lueguster Harrell was born on March 23, 1944 to the late Irene Glover and Fletcher Harrell, Sr.
and as an added bonus, was delivered at their home located at 2691 E. Vernor Highway in
Detroit, Michigan. More affectionately known to her family as Gus, Lue grew up in Detroit’s
Black Bottom with her parents, brother Coleman Glover and grandmother Ida Burell both who
preceded her in death. Living with aunts, uncles and several first cousins allowed Lue to
appreciate and treasure the love of family.

In 1955, Lue, her mother, Aunt Sarah and Uncle William moved out of Black Bottom into a
home purchased by her mother on Crane Street. Lue accepted Christ at an early age and was
baptized at Calvary Baptist Church. She later joined Greater Christ Baptist Church where her
family were founding members. Lue would sing in the choir and served on the Youth Usher
Board.

Lue attended both Detroit Public and Catholic Schools for elementary and junior high school.
She also attended Nativity and Eastern High Schools.

Lue married Ulyssess Banks in March 1960 and to this union the couple gave birth to Dwayne in
1961. In 1962, Irene Renee was born.

Lue began working for Chrysler Corporation at the Lynch Road Plant in 1965. In 1969, she
remarried. On November 29th, Lue married Lionel Doyle and moved from the east side of
Detroit. As a result of relocating to the west side, Dwayne and Renee had to attend a new
school, Sanders Elementary. At Sanders, Dwayne met a friend, Charles Johnson who ultimately
became like a son to Lue and part of the Doyle family.

In 1971, Garland was born. After leaving Chrysler in the 70s and throughout the 80s, Lue
primarily served as a homemaker. She became active in government in the 1980’s registering
people to vote and serving as a temporary worker for the Detroit Department of Elections.

It wasn’t until Lue cared for her Goddaughter April’s son A.J., that Lue decided to open
Grandma Lue’s Home Day Care in 1990. Lue thought her days of raising children fulltime was
over, she was wrong. Lue instantly embraced and raised, daughter Zeasuchia in 1991. For
almost 30 years, Lue operated her home day care until father time intervened in 2018 and
prevented Lue from further caring for children.

Lue was dedicated and active in her church Ecclesia Christian Ministries where she was a
member of the Mother’s Board. Lue also enjoyed playing bingo.

She went home to be with the Lord on February 24, 2022 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s
disease.
