Obituary

Mrs. Lurena McKnight Flight was born to the late Mrs. Sula Wilson McKnight and Mr. Charlie Morgan McKnight on April 12, 1936, in Salters, South Carolina. She attended the public schools of Williamsburg County and graduated from Tomlinson High School, Kingstree, South Carolina, in 1954. She was a graduate of Roper Nursing School, Charleston, South Carolina.

Mrs. Flight was united in holy matrimony to Mr. John Henry Flight. To this union, two children were born. Malcolm Eric Flight and Adrienne Denise Flight Alexander. Lurena had a passion for serving others and spent many years as a nurse. She later left the profession so she and John could start and successfully run their own businesses. She was a devoted member of the Huntington Church of Christ in Huntington, New York, where she served as assistant teacher for the Young Converts class and helped wherever needed.

She later became an active member of the Far Rockaway Church of Christ in Far Rockaway, New York. After relocating to Michigan, she faithfully worshipped with the members of the Oakland Church of Christ in Southfield.

Lurena was preceded in death by her “Sweetie” husband, John Henry Flight; beloved son Malcolm Eric Flight; her parents, Charlie Morgan McKnight and Sula Wilson McKnight; her siblings, best friend and sister Sula Mae McKnight Scott; and brothers Wille McKnight and Cokley McKnight. Left to cherish her memories are her loving daughter Adrienne Flight Alexander, baby sister Edna McKnight, granddaughters Patrice Flight and Ashley Flight, grandsons Malcolm Eric Flight II, (Tieasha), Herbert Alexander, Jonathan Flight, Terrell Tucker, great granddaughters Ja’Niyah Bibbs, Maya Flight, and great grandson Kylo Tucker.
