Marjorie Ann Jones was born on April 29, 1940, in Houston, Texas, to Kenneth and Bertha Jones.

She spent her early years in Houston, Texas, and Columbus, Ohio, until her father Kenneth accepted a position with the Detroit News and moved the family to Michigan.

Marjorie attended the Detroit Public School system. At the age of 13, before entering high school, she earned runner-up honors in the novice class for girls in the Free Press Junior Golf School. She graduated from Southeastern High School in 1958 and later attended Lewis Business College, where she mastered shorthand and became a proficient typist.

Marjorie was employed with Michigan Bell for two years before becoming a secretary at Ford Motor Company. She worked for Ford for eight years until deciding to focus on her growing family. This allowed her to attend her children’s field trips and volunteer at their schools.

She married William H. E. Jones, Jr. on July 5, 1969, and they shared 55 years of marriage, raising four children: Yvette Nicole Nealy, William Todd Jones, Pamela Ann Morton, and David Edward Jones.

Marjorie’s favorite hobbies were knitting, working on crossword puzzles, and watching Wheel of Fortune, where she often solved many of the puzzles before the contestants. She was also an avid Detroit Tigers fan. Above all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, cherishing every moment with them.

Marjorie Jones departed this life on September 18, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Bertha Jones, and her brother, Kenneth O. Jones, Jr.

She is survived by her husband, William H. E. Jones, Jr.; two daughters, Yvette N. Nealy and Pamela A. Morton (James); two sons, William T. Jones, and David E. Jones; five grandchildren, Jacquelyne N. Galloway, Cameron J. Morton, Aniya E. A. Jones, Ayanna E. L. Jones, and Avery N. B. Jones; four great-grandchildren, Mackenzie J. L. Thomas, Malik I. Thomas, King L. Thomas, and Caleia R. McBride; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Her love, kindness, and devotion to family will always be remembered.
