Mary Catherine West - Sibert

October 29, 1956 — February 4, 2024

Mary Catherine West-Sibert, born on October 29, 1956, to Edward and Mary (McKeown) West, embarked on a journey of love, resilience, and steadfast commitment until her peaceful passing. Despite enduring a challenging start in life, Mary's spirit shone brightly, guided by the love that ultimately reunited her with her cherished family. In her earlier years, she shared her life's journey with her beloved siblings: Patti, Dennis, Monica "Monie," and Cindy.

Settling in Detroit, Mary encountered the love of her life, Larry Sibert, while attending Church service, whom she married on October 10, 2007. Their bond was a sanctuary of unwavering support, with Mary's gentle presence calming even the fiercest storms. Mary's infectious smile illuminated every room, and her love for others knew no bounds. Her devotion to Larry was unwavering, earning her the endearing title of "Larry's Mary."   Whether it was her devotion to her family, steadfast commitment, or compassionate care for her community, Mary's life was a testament to the power of love and kindness. When health challenges prevented her from attending church, Mary found solace in her weekly bible study, where the comforting words of God nourished her soul. Though Mary and Larry did not have children, Mary poured her love into caring for her beloved dogs, Belle, Joy, Najee, and Faith, whom she cherished.

Mary's vibrant personality and distinctive voice endeared her to all who knew her as she danced to the rhythm of her drumbeat. Her bond with her late father-in-law, Robert Sibert, was a source of immeasurable love and joy, filling a void in their lives with the warmth of familial connection.
Despite facing her medical battles, Mary remained a beacon of selfless service to others until her passing. As an activities coordinator at a skilled nursing facility for 27 years until retirement, Mary's residents were not just patients but cherished members of her extended family, receiving her boundless care and compassion. With her beloved husband Larry by her side, Mary peacefully concluded her journey on February 4, 2023, steadfastly committed to Christ guiding her every step.

Mary's memory will forever be cherished by her devoted husband, Larry James Sibert, siblings Patti (Tom) Eakley and Dennis (Barb) West, step-siblings Christine and Randy Singer, brother-in-laws Al Meyer, Robert (Alene) Sibert, sister-in-law Francis Carter, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, countless friends, and her faithful canine companion, faith.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Edward and Mary (McKeown) West, father-in-law Robert "Bobby" Sibert, sisters Monica "Monie" Meyer and Cindy West, and sister-in-laws Zenobia Durr and Barbara Sibert and dogs Najee and Joy. Mary's legacy of love, compassion, and steadfast commitment will continue to inspire all blessed to have known her. May her soul find eternal peace in the embrace of her Heavenly Father.
