It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Matilda Geraldine Seaton, a beloved mother, aunt, and friend, who departed this life on June 26, 2025, at the age of 92. Born in Detroit, Michigan, on May 4, 1933, Matilda lived her life as a remarkable and resilient woman, embodying strength and grace throughout her journey.
Matilda was an inspiring presence in the local education community, serving as an Executive Secretary with the Detroit Public Schools. Her dedication to her work and the countless individuals she supported reflected her commitment to educational excellence and community service.
She is survived by her cherished son, Wade Seaton. Matilda will be lovingly remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the endless love she shared with her family. Her legacy will continue through the hearts of all who knew her.
To honor Matilda's remarkable life and to celebrate the impact she had on all who crossed her path, a Public Viewing will be held at the James H. Cole Northwest Chapel on July 10, 2025, from 3:00pm - 9:00pm. Friends and loved ones will have the opportunity to pay their respects and share cherished memories.
The Family Hour will take place at St. Matthew-St. Joseph Episcopal Church on July 11, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Everyone is invited to gather together in remembrance of Matilda's life and the love she bestowed upon us all.
Matilda will be laid to rest at Elmwood Cemetery, 1200 Elmwood St, Detroit, MI, following the service. Her spirit will forever remain in our hearts, guiding and inspiring us to live with the same compassion and integrity she exemplified.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.
