Ms. Maxine Louise Poole, daughter of Emma Cleveland Davis and Sam Carbin, was born on September 9, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan. One of four children, Maxine was resilient, diligent, and a deeply devoted woman of God. Known for her quick wit and straightforwardness, Maxine commanded a high level of respect. She was a long-time member of both St. Paul United Methodist Church and Detroit Calvary United Methodist Church where she was a faithful usher, attended Bible study, and was an active member of the United Methodist Women.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Emma and Sam; her aunt: Bessie Mae Puitt; her uncles: William, John, and Dewitt Cleveland; her grandsons: Kevin Carbin and Michael Lewis; her sisters: Jeanette Pettway and Lorraine McCoy; and her daughter Joyce Carbin.

She leaves behind to mourn her brother: Edward Carbin (Barbara); her son: Walter; her daughters: Gail (Frenchie) and Karen (Peter); her grandchildren: Johnny, Robert, Lynnedra (Tyrone), Glendra and Summer Joy; her great grandchildren: Micha, Johnathan, Steven, Linnea, Ocean, Summit, Tanaija, Teanna, RaShontae, RaShante, Elasha, Jovante and Kevin; her great-great grandchildren: Julian, Teanna, Michael, Dwyane, Christian, Matthew, and scores of other family and friends.

There will never be another like Maxine. She will truly be missed and never forgotten.

Psalm 23 (KJV)
A Psalm of David

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:

And I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
