Sadie Carolyn Meeks

Sadie Carolyn Meeks was born in Detroit, MI on March 14, 1943 to Walter and Betty Moore, whom preceded her in death. She was raised with 7 siblings, 4 of which preceded her in death, Parzetta (Chee Chee), Kenneth, Walter Jr., and Yvonne.

Sadie attended the Detroit Public School system, graduating from Northern High School. Sadie found Christ at an early age and attended Greater New Mount Moriah Church. Later on Sadie was invited to Lomax Temple A.M.E Zion Church by Vera Wilson and made that her new Church home. She was well known for her dedicated service to the Church and the community. Sadie worked in the Detroit Public School system where she retired after many years. While working in the school system she cultivated long lasting friendships and the love and respect of the students.

Sadie met and fell in love with Leon Meeks Sr. and was married August 12, 1961. During her marriage to Leon Sr, Sadie had three children, Parzeda (deceased), Leon Jr, and Kathryn.

Sadie was passionate about the things that gave her joy. Crocheting which was taught to her by Vera Wilson and Sadie taught to family and friends. She loved her music especially the Blues and Prince. Sadie was an avid fisherman which was always a fun family event. And we cannot forget how devoted she was to her hometown of Detroit sports teams. She was one of their #1 fans.
Sadie was compassionate and generous to all. She was loved and respected by everyone who knew her. Sadie was a person with a heart of gold. She loved her family and you could always count on her when you needed her. Sadie was extremely proud of her family.

Sadie made her transition to be with our Lord on Wednesday, May 12, 2021.

Sadie leaves to cherish her memories her son: Leon Meeks Jr. (Maria), her daughter: Kathryn Lawrence (Aaron), her grandchildren: Brandon, Brittany, Byron, Blake, Brianna, Leandra, Raven, and 7 great grandchildren, 2 brothers: Terrence and Madison Moore and her sister: Lynette Moore.
She also leaves a host of loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces, great great nephews relatives and friends.

Sadie was a very special person in our lives and hearts.
She will be greatly missed.
