Michael Hardaway

May 28, 1958 — September 13, 2023

Michael Hardaway was born May 28, 1958, in Detroit, Michigan to Albert and Marie Hardaway.

Michael attended Cooley High school in Detroit, Michigan. While attending high school Michael began his work career at Teller and McLease, a subsidiary of the railroad.  With his fathers assistance he was able to purchase one of his first cars he cherished, a black Dodge Charger.  Later Michael went on to work for Norfolk and Southern Railroad as a Switchman/Conductor.  Several years later Michaeal worked as a butcher for Safeway stores.  His last employment was with Champions Forever Here Michael excelled displaying his creativity in the Production department as a woodworker.

When he was a teenager Michael joined the Water of Life Fellowship COGIC.

Michael enjoyed playing pool, cherished hats,  was a great dancer, and most of all loved walking long distances.  No matter the weather Michael would easily walk miles just to visit a particular store, sometimes just to browse.  Michael was the best example of OG Kool, always in motion but never ever did he think there was a good enough reason to hurry or rush.   The nieces and nephews loved their Uncle Mike as he would be a willing participant to play antics their parents thought was risky behavior.

Michael was a strong fighter enjoying life on his terms.  This is evident from him being a victim of a hit and run accident which placed him in a coma for over 30 days.  Although a long road Michael prevailed in his recovery, from that point on he worked every week and began his obsession with walking.

Michael departed this life September 13, 2023. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Hardaway, brother Albert Hardaway Jr., and nephew Michael Smith Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memories his father Albert Hardaway Sr. siblings Felecia Hardaway, Patricia Bracy (Harold), Brenda Stewart, Linda Towns (Johnie (d), Wendell Hardaway, Carolyn Howard, Kevin Hardaway and Cherryl Hardaway; nieces and nephews: Anesha Williams (Michael), Ciera Dorsey, Tamara Smith, Brenda Stewart Jr, Crystal Hardaway, Terry Hardaway, Jewell Howard, Lance Dudley; great nieces and nephews: Angel, Javion, Aaniyah, Jaylen, Branden, Skylar, DaNiro, Julian, Royalty, and Honesty. A host of aunts and uncles, cousins and friends.
