Mildred Jay Manley was born in Osierfield, Georgia on June 11, 1928. She was the eldest of 4 children born to the late Joseph and Penny Mae Jay.
Mildred accepted Christ at an early age. She graduated from Monitor High School, in Fitzgerald, GA. She married the love of her life, Jesse Lee Manley and they moved to Detroit, Michigan where they had two children: Lamont and Phyllis. Mildred was a devoted wife to Jesse for 68 years.
Mildred joined Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, in Ecorse, MI where she was a long-time member. Her joy was working with the Celestial Choir for many years.
Mildred enjoyed attending computer and home improvement classes at Wayne County Community College with her husband. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, gardening, playing cards, board games, word searches, cooking, baking her famous pies, cakes and cookies, traveling throughout the United States and Canada and spending time with family and friends.
Mildred is survived by her children: Lamont (Pat) Manley; Phyllis (Fred) Bridges; Granddaughter: Ashleigh (Danny) Fisher, Grandson: Jermaine Bridges; Great-Granddaughters: Layla and Amaya Fisher and Sister: Carolyn Guy.
