Kathye Morrow

Kathye Renee Benning was born on March 7, 1958 to the union of Gasoway and Mattie Benning in Lincoln Park, MI. She was welcomed into the family by three siblings Margarite Isoise, Esther Lee, and Samuel Ardell. The next year, Melvin Derone was born and five years later, Ivan Hugh completed the family dynamic.

In August of 1975, Kathye married Carl H. Morrow, Sr. and three children Tyesha Latrelle, Ty’Lisa Olean, and Carl Herman, Jr. were born to this union.

Kathye attended Southwestern High School in Detroit and graduated from Hazel Park High School in Hazel, Park MI. Kathye was passionate about making women feel beautiful and graduated from Michigan College of Beauty where she later became an entrepreneur with Caring For Your Hair establishment. After many years of doing hair, Kathye was employed as a caregiver at Enhanced, Inc. With her loyalty and dedication, she rapidly moved up the ladder and became a manager within the company.

Kathye was raised in the church and accepted Christ as her savior under the pastoral leadership of her dad, Superintendent Gasoway Benning at the House of Freedom Church. Kathye served in various capacities within the ministry. Her mom Mattie encouraged her to play the piano to assist her dad in the musical ministry. She was also a Sunday School teacher, choir director, nursing guild, and Christian Women Council member. Kathye loved to praise the Lord and was an avid student of the Word of God. Kathye always brought insight and usually a laugh or two to Sunday School classes.

Kathye loved life and lived it to the fullest. Kathye was an avid traveler and travelled to numerous destinations with her family and friends. She enjoyed living not merely existing. On Saturday, May 17, 2014 the Lord gave her rest.

Kathye will be loved and never forgotten by her loving children Tyesha, Ty’Lisa, Carl Jr., and Brianna. Parents Gasoway (preceded in death) and Mattie Benning. One sister Margarite Campbell-Paulin preceded her in death, Esther (Samuel), Samuel of Columbus, GA, Melvin (Bernadette) of Maricopa, AZ, and Ivan (Brenda). Kathye loved her grandchildren who will always cherish her memory: Deloneo, Delandelis, India, Lela, Delon, Mia, Sanaah, Kareyl, and Aliyah. Godchildren Shanté and Cedrina. In addition to her many friends, Kathye had a special friendship with Kim Brakefield, Anita Brown, Angie Kellam, Regina Mancill, and a special sister in Marilyn McClure. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, clientele, and the House of Freedom and Dunamis Ministries church families.
