Obituary for Louise Moss (Gilmore)

In Loving Memory of Louise Gilmore Moss

Louise Gilmore Moss, was born on December 15, 1922, in Newbern, Alabama. Of nine children, she was the fourth oldest child of Gus and Mollie Gilmore. With her sisters and brothers, Louise attended the school systems of Hale County, in Alabama. Along, with family members, as a young adult she relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio. In the mid-fifties, once again Louise moved to another city and state, Detroit, Michigan.
While living in Alabama, Louise accepted Christ at an early age. In her later years, she became a member of Derrick Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, in Detroit, Michigan. Louise was a loyal employee of Hutzel Hospital in Detroit, for nearly 30 years. She retired from Hutzel Hospital, as a supervisor in the “House-Keeping” department. Her working skills spilled over into her home life, she was devoted to keeping her home in top notch condition. She made sure that there was a place for everything and everything should be in its place. She was cared for at the Marycrest Manor Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility, in Livonia, Michigan for the last two and a half years. Louise could be somewhat of a character at times, but no matter how she may have acted from day to day, the professionals that they were, the staff at the facility gave her the utmost professional care, as well as becoming her friends. In-addition to the staff, there was one resident, named Flo that took Louise under her “Wing” from the very beginning of her stay at the facility and they became friends. On Friday, February 10, 2012, Louise was called to rest and reunited with her family members. Louise’s parents, five sisters and two brothers preceded her in death. Louise leaves to cherish her memory, her only surviving and youngest sister, Mary A. Tucker of San Antonio, Texas. Along, with Mary there are a vast number of nieces, nephews, including great-nieces and nephews, as well as cousins, all residing in Alabama, Indiana, Michigan and Texas.
