David Mungo

David Mungo was born May 31st, 1936 of his father Leroy’s first marriage to Adelle Baker in Chesterfield County, South Carolina where he lived until the family later moved to Manning, SC. In 1958, while living in Manning, South Carolina he met and married Betty E. Ragins. The couple were blessed with three children born of their union, and moved to Norwalk, Connecticut in 1959 where David diligently provided for his family while working for several employers. They later separated and he moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1973, beginning a long career with Ford Motor Company - Wixom Plant, from which he retired.

David loved life and his family, so he traveled the United States to points north, east and south to spend time with them, always returning to the City of Detroit which he called home. Later in life he married the late Sheryl Thomas, their lives finally complete, two becoming “one” as God intended. His legendary sense of humor brought both laughter and tears to those who knew and loved him. Lottery tickets, casino visits and scratch off purchases were just a few of his favorite pass times. Helping people anytime, anywhere, with anything is his legacy, along with his children and grandchildren.

David leaves behind a host of great memories for his daughter Berdella White (Ralph-deceased) – Bridgeport, CT, sons David (Lesley-deceased) – Stone Mountain, GA, Dwayne Mungo – Cold Creek, Virginia, and Louis (Glynis) – Novi, MI, and stepson Javandre Thomas – Detroit, Mi; grandsons, Jermaine, David, Jr., Christopher, Aaron and Ryan; granddaughters, Betty and Charlise and goddaughter, Audrey Banks. From his father’s first marriage to which David was born, he leaves behind Brothers; Lecola - Charlotte, NC and Joseph - New Haven, CT and one sister, Viola Graham – Brooklyn, NY. Of his dad’s second marriage he is survived by a brothers, Curtis and Leroy, Jr. – New Haven, CT and sister Evangelist Jennie Mae Simmons, New Haven, CT.

David is predeceased by his father Leroy, mother Adelle, wife Sheryl, brother Sidney, along with his sisters Roberta, Alberta and Sarah.
