Obituary for
Myra Nelson
Myra Nelson was born to the late Jerry and Hattie Humes on September 24, 1926, in Scott, Mississippi. Myra accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Jeruselem Baptist Church in her hometown.. She was united in marriage to Andrew Nelson on November 4, 1944. Myra was a faithful and devoted member of Chapel Hill MBC for over 60 years, joining the church when it was still located on Maybury Grand Ave., where all her children were baptized, initially under the auspices of Reverend Truman and later Reverend Roy A. Allen.
Over the years Myra served on the Liquidating Club and Usher Board #2, as well as serving in other capacities within the ministry. Myra was very family oriented. She truly loved her families; immediate, extended, church and her family of friends. She was generous with her love. Myra was also an avid gardener who loved to travel.
Myra leaves to cherish her memory, her loving and devoted husband, Andrew; six children Alvin (Betty) Nelson; Joyce Wilson; Shirley Maxine (Elliott) Eberhart; Michael Nelson; Jerry (Theo) Nelson, and Andrew Keith Nelson. Two sisters Lucille (Page) Trapp and Flora Hattie Wadley; 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 1 great great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends who will miss her greatly.
Myra was preceded in death by three sisters, Enzell Netter, Hilda Morrison and Beneva Stampley; five brothers, Ike, Tarrance, Add, Percell and Floyd Humes.
