Ollie Mae Goode

September 4, 1933 — November 12, 2021

Ollie Mae Goode was born September 4, 1933, to the late Thomas & Annette Colvin. Ollie accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age.

Ollie graduated from Walker County Training School. Soon after graduation she moved to Gary Indiana where she met her late husband, Dallas Goode. To this union a daughter Teresa Ann Goode Sweeney was born.

Ollie was employed at National Can Company until she retired in 1980. In 1986 Ollie and her late husband retired and returned to Alabama until Dallas’ death in 2000. Ollie then returned to Detroit Michigan to live with her daughter and her family.

Ollie joined Greater Middle Missionary Baptist Church March 3, 2002, under the leadership of the late Pastor J.H. Johnson Jr. One thing about Ollie, she loved her pastor and church family. When Covid hit, all Ollie understood was that she couldn’t go to church. She wasn’t interested in seeing it on Facebook or TV. She needed to be in the sanctuary. We did manage to sneak out of her assisted living facility to attend church a couple of times after she had been vaccinated. Pastor Willis never failed to mention her during the service. He always referred to her as mother.

On November 12, 2021, she peacefully went to join her loved one who have gone on before her. Ollie is preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Annette Colvin. Sisters: Callie Fred Maddox and Daisy Jean Amos Kirk. Brothers Thomas Colvin Jr. and Terry Colvin.

Ollie leaves to cherish her memory: Sisters; Carolyn Mixon of Alabama, Geraldine Ronald McKinney of Louisville Kentucky and Sara Dean Richard Presley of Cleveland Ohio. Daughter Teresa A. Sweeney. Son-in-law Wyatt Sweeney. Granddaughters: Torrie Angelica Sweeney, Dallas Sydnee Sweeney. Grandson: Hudson Wyatt. Goddaughter Keisha Pendleton of Marietta Georgia. Very Dear Friend from Oakman, Alabama, Laura Hewitt. Host of nieces, nephews, friends, family, and church family.
