Obituary for Fannie Pauline Owens

Fannie Pauline Owens was born on September 1, 1922 and was the third of eleven children blessed into
the union of Louis Davis and Dellen (Rosella) Davis. Both of whom preceded her in death. Fannie was
also preceded in death by three brothers, Ceylon (Bobo), Robert Davis, Charles Malone and one sister,
Minnie Lee Granderson.

Fannie was educated in the Tennessee Public School system, having graduated from Barret's Chapel in
Arlington, Tenn. in 1941. After High School Fannie relocated to Detroit, Mi. and later met and married
Willie May Owens. To this union six children were born.

She accepted Christ at an early age. She had been a faithful charter member at Greater King Solomon
Baptist church for over fifty years. She was a longtime member of the senior choir and considered a
mother in the church.

Fannie was particularly loyal and devoted to her family and friends. She never met a stranger and was
loved by everyone. She enjoyed cooking and was famous for her homemade rolls, cakes and pies. She
enjoyed gardening and was the life of all parties. She was extremely fond of children and loved singing in
the choir. She was a Hugh fan of the Detroit Pistons and the Detroit Tigers. She received
acknowledgement during one of the televised games on her ninetieth birthday. She loved having fun
and was also pretty good at telling jokes.

Fannie made her transition on Friday, August 2, 2013 at 10:42 a.m., at DMC Harper Hospital after a short
and sudden illness. She joins her loving husband who preceded her in death.

Fannie was survived by, and leaves to cherish her memories, her six loving children: Lillian, TJ, Oliver
(Sabrina), Reginia (Charles), Gregory (Cynthia) and Jerri (Eddie), seven grandchildren: Thomas(Erica),
Oliver(Kristian), Kristopher, Jeremy, Jordan, Gregory and Chloe, seven great grandchildren, four sisters
and one brother and one sister in-law: Ressie Mae Lynn, Thurman Davis, Gussie Davis, Jealone Martin
and Mable Davis, Josephine Davis and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Fannie also maintained special kinships with the Wyatt's of Traverse City and Satovsky families of
Bloomfield Hills, MI, as well as lifelong friendships with Theodosia LaGarde and Easter Thomas-Loving.
While we know that God always has a plan, and blessed us with Fannie for ninety amazing years, her
love and devotion as a friend and family member will surely be missed. She is gone, but never to be
forgotten.
