Obituary for
Ada W. Palmer
Ada Winnifred (Nelson) Palmer was born on December 15, 1914 in Weidman, lsabella County, Michigan. She was the seventh of twelve children born to the late James Nelson and Ada Jane (Harding) Nelson, all of whom preceded her in death. (Children listed in birth year order; Harriet, Pearl, John, Hazel, James, Sadie, Ada, Milo, Bernice, Ruth, Gerald, Roscoe.)
Ada departed this life on December 1st, 2013, at the age of 98 years, 350 days, at Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan.
Ada graduated from Stanton, Michigan High school in 1932. She was united in marriage to James w. Ross (deceased in 1933). Two children were born from this union: Betty Jean (Ross) Jones and Essie Mae Ophelia (Ross) McNeal (deceased).
In 1947, Ada was united in marriage to William Palmer. Ada and William were employed by the United States Postal Service, from the mid-1940's, until their retirements during the 1980's. Following their retirements, Ada and William became avid square dancers, bowlers, and bridge enthusiasts. Ada was known for her warm and welcoming hospitality. She will be remembered by family and friends, as a charming, quick witted, thoughtful person, who loved people, and focused on putting others at ease. Ada and William (Palmer- as many friends knew him) enjoyed these activities for many years until William's health failed. He preceded her in death.
Ada leaves to mourn her passing and cherish many fond memories; her daughter, Betty (Ross) Jones, Son-in-law, Douglas Jones; Grandsons, Douglas Jones Jr. and Lance McNeal; Great granddaughter Jessica Jones; Nieces, Joanne (Cooper) Stewart, Paula (Nelson) Bowers; Nephews; Bruce E. Allen and Jack J. Washington, plus a host of cousins, grandnieces and grandnephews, and countless relatives and friends.
