It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Paulena Summers, a cherished member of our community, who left this world on February 27, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on February 4, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan, Paulena dedicated her life to her family and her work, touching the lives of many with her unwavering spirit and kindness.
Paulena grew up in Detroit, where she completed her education and embraced a fulfilling career Hostess Cakes. Known for her warmth and generosity, Paulena created a nurturing home for her family and a welcoming presence for friends and neighbors.
She is survived by her beloved son, Steven Butler, who carries forward her legacy of love, strength, and resilience. Paulena's life was a testament to the power of family bonds, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
A public viewing will be held at the James H. Cole Home for Funerals - Northwest Chapel on Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 3:00 PM - 9:00 PM, allowing family and friends to pay their respects and celebrate her life. A Family hour will take place the following morning, Friday, March 13th, at 10:30 AM, leading into a funeral service at 11:00 AM. All are invited to join in honoring the life and legacy of Paulena Summers.
In this time of sorrow, we draw strength from one another and from the cherished memories of Paulena. May her soul rest in peace, forever embedded in the hearts of those she loved and who loved her.
