John Loren Pye was born June 20th 1981 in Detroit Michigan, the only son born to the union of Michael Lloyd Pye and Loretta Louise Stamper Pye. John accepted Christ at an early age and remained a faithful and devoted member of the Catholic Church throughout his life.
Born into a family of educators, John developed a love for learning at an early age. He was educated through the Detroit Public School System and attended Bates Academy and Renaissance High School. John’s formal and informal teaching style incorporated math problems in games and everyday life situations.
John was a person who loved life, and lived it to the fullest. He had a uniquely dry sense of humor to keep you laughing, and always was up for a family game night or playing cards. Following in the legacy of the Pye men, he became a member of the Iota Psi chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, while attending The Ohio State University in 2001.
In memory of his late father, John served as president of the Michael Lloyd Pye Scholarship Foundation for 12 years. With his MSC family, he traveled the country showing off his smooth dance moves, earning him the nickname “Get Low”. John was also an avid bowler and golfer. He could be found on the golf course or in a bowling alley sharpening his skills with his family and friends whenever time permitted.
John loved his family and cherished the time he spent with them. He was a good listener and many family members sought him for advice or a dependable shoulder to lean on. His good-natured spirit touched many people. He was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, teacher, and the epitome of a loyal friend.
